A generalised complex structure on a manifold \(M\) is an almost complex structure \(J\) on \(TM \oplus T^*M\) that is integrable with respect to the Courant bracket. The type of such a generalised structure is the function \(\frac{1}{2}\text{dim}(T^*M \cap J T^*M)\). The type change locus is then the codimension-two submanifold of \(M\) along which the type jumps. It has been shown by Goto-Hayano and Torres that there are generalised complex structures on simply connected four-manifolds whose type change loci have arbitrary numbers of path components. In this paper, the authors explicitly construct such generalised complex structures on four-manifolds with various fundamental groups. Examples of manifolds they consider are {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize} \item[{\(\bullet\)}] manifolds of the form \(M = S^1 \times M^3\), where \(M^3\) is a connected sum of three spheres, products of circles and Riemann surfaces, and lens spaces; \item [{\(\bullet\)}] elliptic surfaces; \item [{\(\bullet\)}] connected sums of copies of \(\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^2\) and \(\overline{\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^2}\). \end{itemize}} The methods used are based on torus surgery.
