    Let \(G(g)= \{g_{mn}\}_{(m,n\in\mathbb{Z}^2}\) be a Gabor system generated by \(g\in L^2(\mathbb{R})\); i.e., \(g_{mn}(t):= e^{2\pi int}g(t- n)\), \(t\in\mathbb{R}\). The Balian-Low theorem states that if \(G(g)\) is a Riesz basis in \(L^2(\mathbb{R})\) and \(r\geq 2\), then \[ \max\Biggl\{\int_{\mathbb{R}} |t|^r|g(t)|^2,\quad \int_{\mathbb{R}} |t|^r|\widehat g(t)|\Biggr\}= \infty.\tag{1} \] The result is sharp in \(v\). The authors generalize the result to an exact (complete and minimal) \(G(g)\) satisfying for some \(1\leq p\leq 2\) and every \(f\in L^2(\mathbb{R})\) the condition \[ c\| f\|_2\leq\Biggl(\sum_{m,n} |\langle f, g_{mn}\rangle|^p\Biggr)^{1/p} \] with \(c> 0\) independent of \(f\). In this case, (1) holds for \(r>y/p\) and fails to be true for \(r< y/p\). There are also further generalization of the result.
