The author deals with the existence of positive solutions for quasilinear elliptic equation in the whole space, \[ -\Delta u+ V(x)u-{k\over 2}(\Delta(|u|^2)) u= g(x, u),\quad u> 0,\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^2,\tag{1} \] where \(V: \mathbb{R}^2\to [0,\infty)\) and \(g: \mathbb{R}^2\times\mathbb{R}\to [0,\infty)\) are nonnegative continuous functions, \(k\) is a positive constant. Under suitable assumptions on the data of (1) the author proves the existence of at least one weak solution \(u\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^2)\) with \(u^2\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^2)\). To this end, the author uses the mountain pass in a suitable Orlicz space together with the Trudinger-Moser inequality.
