A finite linear space \(F\) given by \textit{P. Erdős}, \textit{R. C. Mullin}, \textit{V. T. Sos} and \textit{D. R. Stinson} [Discrete Math. 47, 49-62 (1983; Zbl 0521.51005)] is considered which can be embedded into a finite projective plane of order \(n\). Suppose \(F\) is also embedded into a projective plane \(P\) over some field. Then there is a subplane of \(P\) of order \(n\) in which \(F\) is embeddable except for some exceptions given in the paper under review. It is well-known that such a result is not valid for all finite linear spaces which are embedded as well into a projective plane of order \(n\) as into a infinite projective plane over a field.
