    Es wird die gewöhnliche Differentialgleichung \(x^{(n)}=f(t,x,x',...,x^{(q)})\) mit \(0\leq q\leq n-1\) betrachtet unter den Randbedingungen \(x^{(i)}(a)=A_ i\), \(0\leq i\leq k-1\), \(x^{(j)}(b)=B_ j\), \(k\leq j\leq n-1\). Die Greensche Funktion für \(x^{(n)}\) kann unter diesen Randbedingungen explizit angegeben und abgeschätzt werden. Unter passenden Wachstumsbedingungen an f kommt man damit zu Existenzaussagen des vorgelegten Problems, und es kann die Konvergenz des Newtonverfahrens gezeigt werden. Beim Schießverfahren vom linken bzw. rechten Randpunkt aus sind nur n-k bzw. k Parameter zu bestimmen, wenn man die vorgegebenen Randbedingungen gleich berücksichtigt.
