The author is interested in properties of the group of Poisson diffeomorphisms \(\operatorname{Poiss}(M,\pi)\) of a Poisson manifold \((M,\pi)\). If \(M\) is compact, the diffeomorphism group \(\operatorname{Diff}(M)\) of \(M\) with the \(C^\infty\)-topology is equipped with the structure of a Fréchet Lie group [\textit{R. S. Hamilton}, Bull. Am. Math. Soc., New Ser. 7, 65--222 (1982; Zbl 0499.58003); \textit{B. S. DeWitt} (ed.) and \textit{R. Stora} (ed.), Relativité, groupes et topologie II. Les Houches École d'Été de Physique théorique, Session 40, 27 Juin-4 Août 1983. (Relativity, groups and topology II). USMG, NATO ASI. Amsterdam etc.: North-Holland. (1984; Zbl 0583.00023)]. This paper contributes to the discussion on whether \(\operatorname{Poiss}(M,\pi)\) is then a Lie subgroup of \(\operatorname{Diff}(M)\). After a discussion in the introduction of the state of art of the literature on this question, this article presents two examples of Poisson manifolds the Poisson diffeomorphism groups of which are not locally path-connected. Hence they fail to be Lie groups. The first example is compactly supported on a 2-disk, and the second example is a regular Poisson structure which is constructed as a family of symplectic structures on a surface, indexed by parameters in a second surface.
