The authors consider a numerical method for variational inequalities of the second kind which are called mixed variational inequalities by some people. They present one- and two-level Schwarz methods for the problem and prove that the methods are globally convergent with an optimal convergence rate. In addition to the analysis of the solution methods, the authors also apply the theoretical results to nonsmooth contact problems in linear elasticity with Tresca and non-local Coulomb friction.
