The author outlines the use of bond graphs as a new method for studying multibody systems. The claim is that bond graphs can be used to both describe the multibody system and to provide physically motivated means for enforcing constraints. A multilink inverted pendulum is used as an example. The paper is well-written and should be of interest and use to researchers and others working with multibody systems.
