The authors consider the difference equation \[ \Delta\bigl(r_n \Delta(x_n+ cx_{n-k})\bigr) +p_{n+l}x_{n+l-m} -q_{n+l-1}=0,\;(n\geq n_0) \tag{1} \] where: \(c\in\mathbb{R}\), \(k\geq 1\) and \(m,l\geq 0\) are integers, \((r_n)_{n\geq n_0}\) is a sequence of real positive numbers, \((p_n)\), \((q_n)\), \(n\geq n_0\), are sequences of non-negative relation numbers, \(\Delta\) is the forward difference operator: \(\Delta x_n=x_{n+1} -x_n\). A solution of (1) is a real sequence \((x_n)\) defined for all \(n\geq N_0- \max\{k,l,m\}\), \(N_0\geq n_0\), which satisfies (1) for \(n\geq N_0\). A solution \((x_n)\) of (1) is said to oscillate (about 0), if the terms \(x_n\) are neither eventually all positive nor eventually all negative; otherwise, the solution is called non-oscillatory. Sufficient conditions, concerning the constant \(c\) and the sequences \((r_n)\), \((p_n)\), \((q_n)\), for the existence of non-oscillatory solutions of (1), are given.
