A noncommutative curve is a pair \((X,A)\) where \(X\) is a reduced curve and \(A\) is a (coherent) sheaf of \(\mathcal{O}_X\)-algebras. We say that \((X,A)\) is of (almost) string type if each irreducible component of \(X\) is rational and intersects the singular locus in at most two points (resp. three, plus some technical condition on the germs of \(A\) at these points). In this paper, the authors classify derived categories of such curves, determining a functor \(F: D^-(A) \to T(A)\), where \(T(A)\) is the cateogry of triples defined by \textit{Y. A. Drozd} and \textit{D. E. Voloshyn} [Ukr. Math. J. 64, No. 2, 208--224 (2012; Zbl 1273.14008], and showing that \(F\) is dense. Then, identifying numerical invariants of \(A\) and its normalization \(\tilde{A}\) and analyzing possible cases, they attach to the latter category a description in terms of a bundle of chains defined from \(A\).
