A nodal algebra is an associative algebra \(A\) with radical \(R\) such that 1) \(\widetilde A=\text{End}_AR\) is a hereditary algebra, 2) The radical of \(\widetilde A\) is equal to \(R\), 3) if \(U,V\) are simple left and right \(A\)-modules, respectively, then the lengths of the left and the right \(A\)-modules \(\widetilde A\otimes_AU\) and \(V\otimes_A\widetilde A\) are at most 2. The class of these algebras contains \(k[\![X,Y]\!]/(XY)\) and the complete path algebra of the Gelfand quiver. Let \(D^-(A\text{-mod})\) stand for the derived category of \(A\)-modules. The main result of the paper presents a classification of indecomposable objects of \(D^-(A\text{-mod})\). In particular, a description of the derived category of Harish-Chandra modules over \(\text{SL}(2,\mathbb{R})\) is obtained. There are some additional results, for example a Krull-Schmidt theorem for homotopy categories.
