The authors prove the following conjecture, which is used by \textit{D. Ž. Doković}'s algorithm [Int. J. Contemp. Math. Sci. 1, No. 9--12, 557--568 (2006; Zbl 1154.13302)] for the computation of the Poincaré series of the algebra of invariants of a binary form. For the polynomials \(p_n(z,t),q_n(z,t)\) and \(\phi_n(z,t)\) defined in the introduction of the present paper, there exist polynomials \(a_n,b_n\in\mathbb Z[z,t]\) such that \(\phi_n=a_nq_n+b_np_n\).
