Complexifying various tensor bundles and using analytic continuation provides a useful tool to link Riemannian and pseudo-Riemannian data on a manifold. This ``meta-principle'' is used in the paper by the authors to derive, among others, the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet theorem for pseudo-Riemannian manifolds with boundary directly from its Riemannian counterpart.
