In this paper the authors have investigated the simultaneous observability of infinite systems of vibrating strings or beams having a common end point where the observation is taking place. The results are new even for finite systems because the vibrations are allowed to take place in independent directions. Here the main tool is a vectorial generalization of some classical theorems in nonharmonic analysis [\textit{C. Baiocchi} et al., Acta Math. Hung. 97, No. 1--2, 55--95 (2002; Zbl 1012.42022); \textit{V. Komornik} and \textit{P. Loreti}, Fourier series in control theory. New York, NY: Springer (2005; Zbl 1094.49002)].
