Recall that a net \((x_\gamma)_{\gamma\in \Gamma}\) in a vector lattice \(X\) is said to converge in order to \(x\in X\), written as \(x_\gamma\overset{o}{\rightarrow} x\), if there is another net \((y_\delta)_{\delta\in\Delta}\) in \(X\), decreasing to 0, and for each \(\delta\in \Delta\), there is \(\gamma_0\in \Gamma\) such that \(|x_\gamma-x|\leq y_\delta\) for every \(\gamma\geq \gamma_0\). Also, a net \((x_\gamma)_{\gamma\in \Gamma}\) in a vector lattice \(X\) is said to converge in unbounded order, or uo-converge, to some \(x\in X\), written as \(x_\gamma\overset{uo}{\rightarrow} x\), if for any \(y\in X_+\), we have \(|x_\gamma-x|\wedge y\overset{o}{\rightarrow} 0\). Uo-convergence can be considered as an abstract version for vector lattices of the notion of almost everywhere convergence in spaces of measurable functions. This kind of convergence and the so-called unbounded topologies in vector lattices have received a considerable amount of attention in recent years. In the paper under review, several interesting features of uo-convergence are provided. In particular, it is shown that regular sublattices are precisely those where uo-convergence is independent of the ambient setting (recall that a sublattice \(Y\) of a vector lattice \(X\) is regular if for every set \(A\subset Y\) with \(\inf A\in Y\), the infimum is the same in \(Y\) and in \(X\)). Moreover, a characterization of the positive Schur property in terms of uo-convergence is given. In the second half of the paper, the authors use these techniques to study Komlós and Banach-Saks properties of Banach lattices (see [\textit{J. Komlos}, Acta Math. Acad. Sci. Hung. 18, 217--229 (1967; Zbl 0228.60012)] and [\textit{S. Banach} and \textit{S. Saks}, Stud. Math. 2, 51--57 (1930; JFM 56.0932.01)]). We refer the reader to this very interesting paper for details.
