Fuzzy ideals were introduced by \textit{W. J. Liu} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 8, 133--139 (1982; Zbl 0488.20005); cf. also \textit{S. Sessa}, ibid. 13, 95--100 (1984; Zbl 0568.20004)]. The paper characterizes L-fuzzy prime ideals and L-fuzzy maximal ideals of a given ring by formulas depending on crisp ideals of this ring.
