    The book, consisting of 6 Chapters, a Bibliography and an Index, introduces dynamical systems that are hybrid in the sense that they contain both continuous and discrete state variables. The reading is largely based on illustrative examples taken from various disciplines rather than on an exact theorem-proof based theory because such theory is not yet available. The following subjects are included: definition of hybrid systems; description formats; existence and uniqueness of solutions; special subclasses (variable-structure systems, complementary systems); reachability and verification; stability and stabilizability; control design methods. The book will be useful to researchers from a wide range of disciplines such as systems theory, control theory, computer science, system modeling and simulation, and operations research.
