The author applies the theory given in a preceding paper [see the review above, ibid. 121, 173-214 (1987; Zbl 0617.35028)] to the case of a perfectly conducting cylindrical waveguide with a temporal periodically varying current distribution and the initial values of electric and magnetic fields given. Both transverse electric and transverse magnetic fields are considered, and estimates are made for the order of the secular term when there is resonance in either or both cases. A discussion is given for non simply connected cross sections and it is pointed out that the secular terms involve standing waves.
