\textit{R. Borcherds} discovered in [J. Algebra 115, No. 2, 501--512 (1988; Zbl 0644.17010)] and following work the monster Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{m}\) as a example of a class of generalised Kac-Moody Lie algebras (also called Borcherds algebras). The authors construct in the present paper a complete pro-unipotent group of automorphisms of a completion \(\hat{\mathfrak{m}}\) of the algebra \(\mathfrak{m}\)). This construction is part of several related work in progress of groups associated to Borcherds algebras.
