The translation nets referred to, of order \(s\) and degree \(r\), are based on groups \(G\) of order \(s^ 2\) with \(r\) subgroups of order \(s\), and such that \(G\) is a product of any two of the subgroups. The authors survey recent results on translation nets, such as upper bounds for \(r\) (in the case when the net cannot be completed to an affine plane), and a number of special examples.
