Let \(X\) be a normal complex variety and \(D=\sum d_iD_i\) be an \(\mathbb R\)-divisor with \(0\leq d_i\leq 1\) such that \(K_X+D\) is \(\mathbb R\)-Cartier, then the adjoint ideal sheaf \(\text{ adj}(X,D)\subset \mathcal O _X\) is an important variant of multiplier ideal sheaves that encodes information about the singularities of the pair \((X,D)\). These ideals have recently proved to be very important in the study of higher dimensional complex projective varieties. Adjoint ideals are defined in terms of resolutions of singularities and so it is not clear that they are defined in characteristic \(p>0\). In the paper under review, a new variant of tight closure (the divisorial \(D\)-tight closure of an ideal) is introduced and it is shown that these ideals are obtained from the corresponding adjoint ideals after reduction to characteristic \(p\), whenever \(p\) is a sufficiently big prime. This allows the author to define the notion of \((X,D)\) divisorially F-regular pairs and to show that a log pair \((X,D)\) is divisorially log terminal if and only if its reduction to characteristic \(p\) is divisorially F-regular for all \(p\gg 0\).
