The main result of the paper is in a new explicit expression of the singular value expansion of the Green function of the Helmholtz operator in the circular disc \(B_R(0)\). A numerical experiment based on a simple algorithm for the approximation of this singular system is presented, too. For comparison, it is also provided another numerical method for the computation of the same singular system. The latter deals with the singular value decomposition of a matrix that contains a discretization of the Green function of the Helmholtz operator.
