The authors study the singular integral equation \(\mu w^2 f -H[w^2f]/\pi=gw^{2+\delta}\) where \(\mu\) is a real number, \(w\) is a fixed even exponential weight of smooth polynomial decay at \(\pm \infty\), \(H\) is the Hilbert transform, \(g\) is a real function such that \(gw\) is Hölder continuous with exponent \(\lambda \in (0,1)\), and \(\delta >0\). They propose an approximation method which uses interpolation at the zeroes of the \(n-\)th degree polynomial \(p_n\), orthonormal with respect to \(w^2\). They derive an error estimate, valid for all \(| \mu| \geq \mu_0 >0\), where \(\mu_0\) depends only on \(w\) and \(\lambda\).
