Leibniz algebra structures have shown up in physics in non-abelian gauge theory and gauged super-gravity. As the symmetry algebras are believed to be (in the most general framework) \(L_{\infty}\)-algebras, constructions relating Leibniz algebras to \(L_{\infty}\)-algebras play a role in physics. \par The article under review presents constructions of this sort. First of all, the article reviews the derived bracket formalism which associates to a differential graded Lie algebra (dgla) a Leibniz algebra. This construction can be reversed as shown in [\textit{S. Lavau}, J. Geom. Phys. 144, 147--189 (2019; Zbl 1462.17032)] or from a different point of view in [\textit{J. Palmkvist}, J. Math. Phys. 55, No. 1, 011701, 21 p. (2014; Zbl 1286.81139)]. Section 3 then addresses the main question of the article, namely the infinity-enhancement of a Leibniz algebra. The corresponding axioms taken from [\textit{R. Bonezzi} and \textit{O. Hohm}, Commun. Math. Phys. 377, No. 3, 2027--2077 (2020; Zbl 1444.83013)]. These axioms are meant to be an extension to infinity of an enhanced Leibniz algebra introduced in [\textit{T. Strobl}, ``Non-abelian gerbes and enhanced Leibniz algebras'', Phys. Rev. D 94, No. 2, Article ID 021702, 6 p. (2016; \url{doi:10.1103/PhysRevD.94.021702})], but they seem to be slightly different. The authors show that a dgla affords canonically such an infinity-enhancement, the converse being true, too. Section 4 is then devoted to the passage from an dgla to an \(L_{\infty}\)-algebra, based on (unpublished) work of Getzler which is a special case of a theorem of \textit{D. Fiorenza} and \textit{M. Manetti} [Algebra Number Theory 1, No. 3, 301--330 (2007; Zbl 1166.17010)]. The resulting \(L_{\infty}\)-structure obtained for a Leibniz algebra by concatenating the two constructions is then compared to the first three terms computed in [\textit{R. Bonezzi} and \textit{O. Hohm}, Commun. Math. Phys. 377, No. 3, 2027--2077 (2020; Zbl 1444.83013)]. The last section of the article applies the methods to the example of a \((1,0)\) superconformal model in six dimensions.
