The authors follow up on some of their earlier work on the existence and uniqueness of periodic traveling waves in Hamiltonian lattices with particular emphasis in this paper on the role of a forcing term due to an external field in FPU-type lattices. In addition to the theoretical results of existence and uniqueness, the existence and stability of periodic solutions are also treated numerically, the first by using a pseudo-spectral method, the latter by numerically calculating the corresponding Floquet multipliers.
