Let \(g\) be an analytic function defined on the unit disc \(\mathbb{D}= \{z\in\mathbb{C}:|z|< 1\}\) and let \(\Delta(r, r)\) denote the area of the image of the disc \(\mathbb{C}_r= \{z\in\mathbb{C}:|z|< r\}\) under \(g\), where \(0< r\leq 1\). For the family \(C\) consisting of normalized analytic functions \(f(z)= z+ a_2z^2+\cdots\), \(z\in\mathbb{D}\), such that \(f(\mathbb{D})\) is convex, Yamashita conjectured in 1990 that \[ \max_{f\in C}\,\Biggl(r, {z\over f(z)}\Biggr)=\pi r^2\quad\text{for }0< r\leq 1. \] In this paper the authors prove a more general version of this conjecture for the class \[ S^*(\beta)= \Biggl\{f(z)= z+ a_2z^2+\cdots:\text{\,Re}{zf'(z)\over f(z)}> \beta\text{ for }z\in\mathbb{D}\Biggr\}. \] As a consequence, the Yamashita conjecture is proved.
