Let \(R=\bigoplus_{n\in\mathbb{Z}_{0}}R_{n}\) be a positively graded ring which is a subring of strongly graded ring \(S=\bigoplus_{n\in\mathbb{Z}}R_{n}\), where \(\mathbb{Z}\) is the semi-group of non-negative integers, \(\mathbb{Z}\) is the ring of integers and \(R_{0}\) is a Noetherian prime ring. This work investigates while \(R\) is a unique factorization ring (UFR). The main result of this paper is: A positively graded ring \(R\) is a UFR if and only if \(R_{0}\) is a \(\mathbb{Z}_{0}\)-invariant UFR and \(R_{1}\) is a principal \((R_{0},R_{0})\) bi-module, that is, there is a \(p_{1}\in R_{1}\) such that \(R_{1}=p_{1}R_{0}=R_{0}p_{1}\). The authors conclude the paper by giving examples of \(\mathbb{Z}_{0}\)-invariant UFRs which are not UFRs.
