The covolume of discrete subgroups of \(\mathrm{Iso}(\mathbb H^{2m})\) (Q1025486): Difference between revisions

Let \(\Gamma\) be a finitely presented discrete group of isometries of an even dimensional spherical or hyperbolic space \(X\). The main result of the paper is a formula for the covolume of \(\Gamma\) which is obtained by combining the Schläfli reduction formula and Poincaré formula with a combinatorial cycle condition for a fundamental polytope \(P\) of \(\Gamma\) in \(X\). It allows to compute the covolume of \(\Gamma\) knowing the structure of \(P\). Some applications to hyperbolic Coxeter groups are considered.
