If one considers \(CM_n\), the set of pairs of complex, square matrices whose commutator differs from the identity by a matrix of rank one, the solutions of the KP hierarchy with a certain additional property of its pseudo-differential operator can be written in terms of \(CM_n\) and the poles move conform the dynamics of the Calogero-Moser-Sutherland system. The bispectral problem is another facet of the relationship between the KP hierarchy and the Calogero-Moser-Sutherland system. The authors consider a generalization of \(CM_n\) to arbitrary rank and relates it to the dynamics of the spin Calogero system. A pseudo-differential operator which is constructed from a choice of such matrices is shown to satisfy the Lax equation of the KP hierarchy. The main theorem constructs commutative rings of the matrix differential operators in \(x\) and \(z\) with same KP wave function as eigenfunction.
