The author continues his investigation of cardinalities for vaguely defined (or: hardly characterisable) objects [Math. Pannonica 3, No. 1, 91-115 (1992; Zbl 0761.04007)], i.e. for set-like objects which are given only by certain upper and lower approximations of suitable types. Based on a suitable notion of equipotency, there is a definition of cardinals which follows the standard approach, but has a closer relationship to many-valued, especially Łukasiewicz logic. For these cardinals, ordering relations as well as the arithmetic operations of addition and multiplication are defined and studied. The paper intends to provide a general framework that comprises cardinality considerations e.g. for fuzzy sets, twofold fuzzy sets, rough sets, and partial sets.
