In the paper under review, the authors give an asymptotic formula for traces of weak Maass forms at CM points with an effective bound on the error term. Upon specializing to the modular \(j\)-function, they deduce such a result for traces of singular moduli. Due to work of \textit{D. Zagier} [in: Motives, polylogarithms and Hodge theory. Part I: Motives and polylogarithms. Papers from the International Press conference, Irvine, CA, USA, June 1998. Somerville, MA: International Press. 211--244 (2002; Zbl 1048.11035)], and \textit{K. Bringmann} and \textit{K. Ono} [Math. Ann. 337, No. 3, 591--612 (2007; Zbl 1154.11015)], these traces of weak Maass forms at CM points appear as Fourier coefficients of half-integral weight weakly holomorphic modular forms. Hence, they obtain effective upper bounds for these Fourier coefficients.
