Let \(({\mathfrak g},r)\) be a finite-dimensional quasitriangular Lie bialgebra over a field of characteristic 0, \((U_h({\mathfrak g}),R)\) be a quasitriangular quantization of \(({\mathfrak g},r)\), and \({\mathcal O}_h(G^*)\) be the quantized function algebra sitting inside \(U_h({\mathfrak g})\). The authors prove that \(h log(R)\) belongs to \({\mathcal O}_h(G^*)\overline{\otimes}{\mathcal O}_h(G^*)\), where \(\overline{\otimes}\) denotes the completed tensor product of formal series algebras. As an application a new proof is given of a result of \textit{F. Gavarini} and \textit{G. Halbout} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 161, 295-307 (2001; Zbl 1026.17019)] saying that \(R\) normalizes \({\mathcal O}_h(G^*)\overline{\otimes}{\mathcal O}_h(G^*)\), and therefore it induces a braiding of the formal group \(G^*\).
