Recently, it was shown that \textit{Almost Ring Theory} is a venerable tool for attacking homological conjectures in mixed characteristic. The present paper follows this line for showing the existence of big Cohen-Macaulay modules. Let \((R,\mathfrak m)\) be a Noetherian local ring and \(B\) a big \(R\)-algebra. Assume that there exist a non-zero divisor \(c\in B\) and a sequence \(\{c_n\}_{n\in \mathbb{N}}\) of elements of \(B\) such that \(c_n^n=c\) for all \(n\) and \(c_m^k=c_n,\) whenever \(kn=m\). The authors show that if \(c_nH_{\mathfrak m}^i(B)=0\) for all \(n\) and \(i\neq \dim R\), then \(B\) maps to a big Cohen-Macaulay \(R\)-algebra.
