The author considers homotopy \(n\)-types of presheaves of simplicial sets on a small Grothendieck site. He shows that they can be classified by \((n-1)\)-types of presheaves of simplicial groupoids on the same site, in the sense that there are Quillen equivalences between the appropriate model categories. There are similar results for sheaves of simplicial sets and sheaves of simplicial groupoids. By considering fibrant objects, one gets results on the homotopy theory of higher stacks. By taking the underlying site to be a point, one gets results on Postnikov sections of spaces in the ordinary sense.
