Let \(K\) be an algebraically closed field, and all algebras are assumed to be of finite dimension over \(K\). The author investigates a problem which appeared in the study of stable equivalences of Morita type: Given a self-injective algebra \(A\), find a Galois covering \(F\colon E\to A^e\) of the enveloping algebra \(A^e\) such that \(E\) is a triangular locally bounded \(K\)-category and such that the right \(A^e\)-module \(A\) is of the first kind with respect to \(F\) (that is, \(A\) is isomorphic to \(F_\lambda(N)\) for some finite dimensional \(E\)-module \(N\), where \(F_\lambda\) is the push-down functor). For \(A\) a self-injective Nakayama algebra this was solved by the author [in Commun. Algebra 31, No. 6, 2985-2999 (2003; Zbl 1050.16011)]. As the main result of the paper under review the problem is solved when \(A=T(B)\) is the trivial extension of a basic connected triangular algebra \(B\). For the proof the author generalizes the concept of trivial extensions and constructs triangular Galois coverings in this more general setting.
