The paper is concerned with the class of r-Toeplitz (rT) matrices. The concept of displacement rank is extended to rT matrices, and it is shown that both an rT matrix and its inverse can be expressed as the sum of at most two products of rT matrices. An explicit expression for the sum is given for the inverse of an rT matrix. The results presented generalize known properties of Toeplitz and block Toeplitz matrices.
