Using the notion of a Schur complement various inequalities in Euclidean Jordan algebras are proved. For a complex matrix \(G\) written in a block form there exists a notion of a Schur complement to a block; [see \textit{F. Zhang} (ed.), The Schur complement and its applications. Numerical Methods and Algorithms 4. New York, NY: Springer (2005; Zbl 1075.15002)] for the exact definition and applications. The concept of Schur complement can be studied not only for complex matrices but also for square Hermitian matrices over quaternions or octonions and more generally for elements of Euclidean Jordan algebras, when an idempotent of this algebra is fixed. The definition of the Schur complement in the Euclidean Jordan algebra was proposed by \textit{O. Loos} [``Finiteness conditions in Jordan pairs'', Math. Z. 206, No. 4, 577--587 (1991; Zbl 0727.17017) and by \textit{H. Massam} and \textit{E. Neher} [``On transformations and determinants of Wishart variables on symmetric cones'', J. Theor. Probab. 10, No. 4, 867--902 (1997; Zbl 0890.60016)]. This definition can also be found in the paper under review. The main result of the paper are inequalities related to determinants and eigenvalues of elements of Euclidean Jordan algebras that arise via Schur complements. These inequalities are analogs of inequalities of Fisher, Hadamard, Bergstorm, and Oppenheim; for classical counterparts see \textit{R. A. Horn} and \textit{C. R. Johnson} [Matrix analysis. Cambridge etc.: Cambridge University Press (1985; Zbl 0576.15001)], \textit{F. Zhang} [Matrix theory. Basic results and techniques. 2nd ed. Universitext. New York, NY: Springer (2011; Zbl 1229.15002); \textit{F. Zhang}, loc. cit.].
