The purpose of this paper is to express trace class operators in terms of Hankel operators \(\Gamma _\phi\) of linear systems which are realised in terms of the Laurent coefficients of the solutions of the differential equations. For suitable values of the parameters, solutions of the hypergeometric equation are given a linear system with similar properties. Furthermore, the author proves the result that det\((I - \Gamma _\phi P_{(t,\infty )})\) can be expressed as a series of finite determinants and applies the result to elliptic functions of the second kind, such as those that satisfy Lamé's equation with \(\ell =1\). The results presented in this paper improve and extend many known results.
