This paper is concerned with the problem of recovering the kernel \(k\) in the following integro-differential Cauchy problem in a complex Banach space \(X\) \[ Mu'(t)+Lu(t)=\int_0^t k(t-s) L_1u(s) \,ds+f(t), \] where \(L,\, L_1,\, M\) are closed linear operators. The authors rewrite this problem to a more convenient identification problem, and show the existence and uniqueness of this problem in the framework of general Banach spaces. Moreover, when the Banach space is reflexive, the authors also show the local in time existence and uniqueness. Finally some application examples are given. Part I, cf. Dyn. Contin. Discrete Impuls. Syst., Ser. A, Math. Anal. 12, No. 3-4, 303--328 (2005; Zbl 1081.45006).
