Let \(X\) be a Banach space and let \(\tau\) be a topology on \(X\). Then \(X\) is said to be the \(\tau\)-{\textit{fixed point property}} (\(\tau\)-FPP) for left reversible semigroups if, for every closed bounded convex \(\tau\)-compact subset \(C\) of \(X\) and every left reversible semitopological semigroup \(S\), every nonexpansive action \(\phi:S\times C\to C\) has a fixed point, in the sense that there exists \(x\in C\) such that \(\phi(s,x) = x\) for every \(s\in S\). If \((x_n)\) is a bounded sequence in \(X\) that is \(\tau\)-convergent to \(0\), the function \(\Gamma(x) = \limsup_n \| x_n - x\|\) defined on \(X\) is called a \(\tau\)-{\textit{null type function}}. The main result of the article is: Theorem. Let \(X\) be a separable Banach space and let \(\tau\) be a translation invariant topology on \(X\) such that \(\tau\)-compact sets are \(\tau\)-sequentially compact. If the \(\tau\)-null type functions on \(X\) are \(\tau\)-sequentially lower semicontinuous and \(X\) has either the \(\tau\)-generalized Gossez-Lami Dozo property or satisfies the \(\tau\)-Opial condition, then \(X\) has the \(\tau\)-FPP for left reversible semigroups. The generalized Gossez-Lami Dozo property and Opial's condition are geometric properties of Banach spaces that are useful in the study of fixed points of nonexpansive mappings. The authors note that their result can be used to deduce most of the previous known results on fixed point properties of left reversible semigroups and they also give new examples of Banach spaces with the \(\tau\)-FPP for left reversible semigroups when \(X\) is a dual space and \(\tau\) is its weak-star topology as well as other examples.
