Let \(f\) belong to the Hölder class \(\Lambda_\alpha (\mathbb{R}^2)\), \(0<\alpha <1\), of functions of two variables, and let \(N_1\) and \(N_2\) be normal operators. The authors prove that \(||f(N_1)- f(N_2)|| \leq \text{const}\, ||f||_{\Lambda_\alpha} \, ||N_1- N_2||^\alpha\). More general results are obtained for functions \(f\) belonging to the Lipschitz spaces \(\Lambda_\omega (\mathbb{R}^2)\) generated by the modulus of continuity \(\omega \) and for some Besov spaces. The case, when \(N_1- N_2\) belongs to the Schatten- von Neumann class \(S_p\), is also considered.
