Let \(\Phi\) be a hyperbolic automorphism of the \(m\)-torus \(T^m\) and \(J\) a translation of \(T\). Define \(F_0= (\Phi,J): T^{m+1}\to T^{m+1}\) and let \(F= F_0+ aF'+\) (higher-order in \(a\)) be a \(C^2\)-perturbation of \(F_0\), volume-preserving to first-order in \(a\). The author investigates the second-order expansion of the Lyapunov exponents of (\(F\), volume). In fact, the author obtains an exact and rigorous second-order perturbation expansion of Lyapunov exponentis. Applying the result in a special case, the author recovers a result due to \textit{M. Shub} and \textit{A. Wilkinson} [Invent. Math. 139, 495-508 (2000; Zbl 0976.37013)].
