The authors prove that a mapping \(f\) in the framework of real vector spaces satisfies the \(2\)-variable quadratic functional equation \[ f(x+y, z+w)+f(x-y, z-w)=2f(x, z)+2f(y, w) \] if and only if there exist two symmetric bi-additive mappings \(S_1, S_2\) and a bi-additive mapping \(B\) such that \(f(x, y)=S_1(x,x)+B(x,y)+S_2(y,y)\). They also establish the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the functional equation. See \textit{Th. M. Rassias} [Acta Appl. Math. 62, No.1, 23-130 (2000; Zbl 0981.39014)] for a comprehensive account on stability of various functional equations.
