The authors present two iterative methods for solving systems of nonlinear equations. The first one has fifth order of convergence and requires the evaluation of two functions, two first derivatives and one matrix inversion per iteration. With an extra function evaluation, the authors obtain an eighth-order method. The local convergence of both methods is studied and, in addition, the computational efficiency of the proposed methods is studied and compared with the efficiency of other known methods. Finally, some numerical results are included to test the performance of the introduced methods.
