The authors give a systematic study for dissipative semi-dynamical systems with impulses. Mathematically, an impulsive semi-dynamical system is described by \((X,\pi,M,I)\), where \(\pi=\pi(x,t): X \times {\mathbb R}_+\to X\) is a semi-dynamical system (without impulses), \(M\subset X\) is the impulsive set, and \(I: M \to X\) is a continuous mapping describing the impulses. For dynamical systems without impulses, i.e., \(M\) is empty, the global dynamics like attractors is related with various concepts of dissipativity. See, for example, [\textit{D. N. Cheban}, Global attractors of non-autonomous dissipative dynamical systems. River Edge, NJ: World Scientific (2004; Zbl 1098.37002)]. The main concern of this paper is to introduce different types of dissipativity for impulsive semi-dynamical systems as point, compact, local and bounded, and the center of Levison as well. These are then used to describe the global dynamics of impulsive semi-dynamical systems. The paper is well organized and well written. A remarkable feature is that the authors develop some new approaches to overcome the difficulty caused by the impulses and the non-invertibility. In particular, many results in the book above can be extended to semi-dynamical systems.
