We assume that \(X\) is a \(T_{1}\)-space and begin with the following definitions. A space \(X\) is \(d\)-space if it has a dense set which is the countable union of discrete subsets. Recall from [\textit{A. Bella} et al., Topology Appl. 159, No. 1, 253--271 (2012; Zbl 1239.54014)] that \(X\) is \(D\)-separable iff for every \(\{D_{n}: n<\omega\}\) of dense sets there is a discrete set \(E_{n}\) for each \(n<\omega\) such that \(\bigcup_{n<\omega}E_{n}\) is dense. A space \(X\) is \(M\) (resp., \(R\))-space if for a sequence \(\{D_{n}: n<\omega\}\) of dense sets there are finite (resp., one-point) sets \(F_{n}\subseteq D_{n}\) such that \(\bigcup_{n<\omega}F_{n}\) is dense in \(X\), see [\textit{M. Scheepers}, Quaest. Math. 22, No. 1, 109--130 (1999; Zbl 0972.91026)]. In the present, very interesting paper, the authors introduce some weak versions of separability and investigate various differences between those by constructing many examples. They introduce \(nwd\) (resp., \(NWD\))-separability by replacing discrete with nowhere dense in the definition of \(d\) (resp., \(D\))-separability. By giving examples 4.3, 4.4 and 4.5 they show that \(NWD\)-separability, \(nwd\) and \(d\)-separability are different. Moreover a question raised by \textit{V. V. Tkachuk} [Quaest. Math. 28, No. 4, 409--424 (2005; Zbl 1091.54008)] is answered, by showing that there is a Corson compact space with non-\(d\)-separable square. Among other things, the authors construct a countable \(M\)-separable, non-\(R\)-separable which is an answer to a question of Hutchison in [\textit{J. Hutchison}, Thin-type dense sets and related properties. Phd Disserations, Auburn University, (2010)]. Finally, it is proved that every monotone normal, \(nwd\)-separable space is a \(D\)-separable space. | |||||||
