Let \(L_f\) be a Laurent operator defined by a symbol \(f\). The critical points of \(f\) are denoted by \(\kappa\). \(U\) is assumed to be a suitable unitary local perturbation of \(L_f\). If \(f\) satisfies some continuity conditions and if \(U\) is in a certain regularity class with respect to the operator \(L_f\) such that \(L^\ast_fU- I\) is compact, then the spectrum of \(U\) has locally no singular continuous spectrum and only a finite number of eigenvalues with finite multiplicity. Moreover, a limiting absorption principle for \(U\) holds on subset of \(\partial D\) which do not intersect \(\sigma_{pp}(U)\) and \(f(\kappa)\). The proofs of this results, which use regular Mourre theory, are developed in Section 4. As an application, the authors study the spectrum of GGT matrices. Finally, propagation estimates and regularity classes are studied in some more detail. For Part I see [the authors, J. Funct. Anal. 268, No. 8, 2188--2230 (2015; Zbl 1330.81090)].
