This book concerns second-order linear elliptic systems with rapidly oscillating periodic coefficients of the type \[ -\partial_i(a^{\alpha\beta}_{ij}(x/\varepsilon) \partial_j u^\beta(x))= f^\alpha(x)- \partial_i g^\alpha_i(x),\quad x\in\Omega \] in bounded Lipschitz domains \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) \((i,j=1,\dots, n;\,\alpha, \beta= 1,\dots, m)\) with \(a^{\alpha\beta}_{ij}\in L^\infty\) and \(f^\alpha, g^\alpha_i\in L^2\). The classical theory of periodic homogenization (two-scale asymptotic expansions, homogenized operator and effective coefficients, correctors) is presented for the Dirichlet and the Neumann boundary value problems. The man topic are convergence rates of the solutions and interior and boundary regularity estimates (which are uniform with respect to \(\varepsilon\)) in \(L^p\) and \(W^{1,2}\) and, under stronger assumptions on the data, in \(W^{1,p}\) and in Hölder spaces. Asymptotic expansions of fundamental solutions, of the nontangential-maximal-function and of Dirichlet eigenvalues are presented as well, and the results are applied to linear elasticity systems. The main technical tools are the so-called compactness method of \textit{M. Avellaneda} and \textit{F.-H. Lin} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 40, No. 6, 803--847 (1987; Zbl 0632.35018); ibid. 42, No. 2, 139--172 (1989; Zbl 0645.35019)] and the method of layer potentials.
