Let \(G\) be a \(\Delta\)-regular class 1 graph with maximum vertex degree \(\Delta\geq|G|/2\). The author proves that if \(G'\) is a graph obtained from \(G\) by splitting any vertex of \(G\) into two vertices \(x\) and \(y\) such that \(x\) and \(y\) are minor vertices in \(G'\), then \(G'\) is \(\Delta\)-critical. Some open problems are discussed, too.
