The paper revisits the application of the Hirota bilinear method to obtaining explicit solutions in the form of weakly localized ``lumps'' (rational solitons) to integrable multidimensional equations, such as, in particular, a generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation in \((3+1)\) dimensions. The analysis is focused on constructing positive-definite lump solutions.
